New Digital Television In Ogun State Will Set Template For Effective Broadcasting - OGHA




The House Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism led by Hon. Akinpelu Aina yesterday described the ongoing construction of a world class digital studio at the  Ogun State Television as a provision of modern equipment that would make the State television the choice of advertisers and viewers.

Aina stated this during an oversight visit to the Television station to assess its 2018 budget performance.

Aina, who commended the State Government for its foresight in planning ahead of time in putting the State among the best in broadcasting business.

Other members of the Committee lauded the management team of the State Television for promoting professionalism in the discharge of their duties which they noted had bridged the gap between government and the governed.

In his remarks, the Deputy  General Manager,  Mr Festus Kehinde, thanked the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun led-government for its commitment to the advancement of the television station through the launching of OGTV on Media super Highway DSTV and GOTV as well as the procurement of 500KVA generating set and other digital equipment to enhance the picture quality of the station.

Kehinde explained that the station raked in 42.6% of its revenue target, sought government intervention to be fixed on the  Independent Power Plant.

In the same vein, Committee also gave a pat on the back to the State Broadcasting Corporation for its revenue drive and self sustainability initiatives, notwithstanding  the proliferation of media outfits in the country.

The Committee led by Akinpelu Aina gave the commendation during the budget assessment visit to the State Broadcasting Corporation, with a renewed assurance to give necessary legislative support to the radio station for quality service delivery to the people.

Members of the Committee tasked the management team of the station to continue to put in place more programmes to meet up with the demand of the highly selective audience as the proliferation of media stations had increased competition and demand for qualitative programme.

They  acknowledged the effective coverage and reportage of government activities through a two-way communication. Urging  government agencies in the State to support the station through prompt patronage.

Responding, the Acting General Manager, OGBC, Diji Akinhanmi said the Corporation had been relaying credible, reliable and dependable information about government’s activities to the people.
