Ogun Assembly Tasks Agency On Campaign Against Indiscriminate Placement Of Posters

The Ogun State House of Assembly yesterday tasked the State Signage and Advertising Agency (OGSAA) to develop more measures towards addressing the indiscriminate pasting of campaign posters on infrastructure within the State.

The Assembly’s Committee on Information led by Akinpelu Aina disclosed this  during the 2018 budget assessment visit to the agency's headquarters, in Abeokuta, the State capital.

He stated  that the sensitization became imperative to get rid of  dirt in the State.

The Members of the Committee  also charged the agency to organise more enlightenment and advocacy programmes to educate the people.

They hinted that the State Government's investment in the construction of bridges,  flyovers and other infrastructure needed to be protected.

The members therefore admonished the agency to collaborate with actors and practitioners in the advertising sector to further tapped into existing potentials abound in the sector while advocating the need to ensure sanity in the placement of billboard on highways within the State.

Responding, the General Manager,  Akin Bandele warned  that the agency would not hesitate to institute legal actions against anybody found pasting posters indiscriminately in the State.

Bandele emphasised that the readiness of the agency to collaborate with all political parties and their supporters in achieving a smooth electoral process, stated that efforts were in top gear with the State Ministry of Commerce and Industry to deploy commercial officers to its Zonal Offices to boost its manpower for effective service delivery.
