We Need Maximum Investigation Over Kemi Adeosun’s Certificate Scandal, PAND

A social advocacy group, Patriotic Alliance for National Development (PAND) yesterday commended the resignation of the immediate former Minister of Finance Mrs. Kemi Adeosun over her NYSC certificate forgery.

The group maintained that the Federal Government should prosecute her and every other individual who helped Adeosun forged the said certificate including the Department of State Security Service, in Ogun State and Abuja.

This was contained in a communique signed by publicity secretary to PAND, Comrade Adekunle Adewunmi.

In the statement "The Members of Ogun State House of Assembly, where Mrs. Adeosun was first screened as Commissioner-designate and the Nigerian Senate, in 2015, where she got the nod to serve as Minister should also be investigated.

The group equally demanded full prosecution of those whose cases appear to have been swept under the carpet in this present administration.

The statement reads; “The resignation of the immediate past Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun is not only honourable but quite commendable despite coming up after sixty-nine days since the lead was blown off the hidden NYSC certificate forgery issue.

"Now that she has resigned and travelled out of Nigeria, we maintain that her exit from the Federal Executive Council is not enough to make up for the embarrassment the fraud has caused our country, corruption that has been allegedly perpetrated in the name of the covering up the scandal and the level of such decadence in high places and among public officials."

According to her, someone got the certificate for her at a point she needed one. As investigations have proven so far, the certificate was forged. Though the issue is quite embarrassing, many should be made to answer for serving as accomplices in this huge crime against the nation.

At a time when millions of Nigerians have gone through the scheme, no one no matter how highly placed should escape the programme, not to talk of getting fake papers, to claim what is meant for many able compatriots. Not even at a time many have been prosecuted for the same offense.

Among those who should be questioned are officials in Department of State Security Service, in Ogun State and Abuja. Leadership and members of Ogun State House of Assembly, where Mrs. Adeosun was first screened as Commissioner-designate and the Nigerian Senate, in 2015, where she got the nod to serve as Minister.

"It is believed that nothing should have been worst than a nightmare to a government which rode to power on the self-professed love for integrity than a forgery case at that level of government, among several other criminal offences by officials of the same system, without due diligence of investigation and prosecution."

 How then can we be sure of a Nigeria being managed by illegalities instead of probity? The group questioned.

We equally demand full prosecution of those whose cases appear to have been swept under the carpet under the present administration and indeed full cleansing of the system of similar cases.

Because we have no other country to proudly call ours, we won’t stop calling on everyone to remain patriotic for the good of our dear country, Nigeria.

Reps Aspirant Vowed To Render Selfless Service and Not To Serve His Own Interest.

As 2019 general election draws nearer, one of the front line aspirant of Young Democratic Party (YDP), Otunba Gbolahan Macjob yesterday said,  the future of Nigerian youths dictates the use of diversity for innovative economic  solutions and not to allow themselves to be used by greedy politicians.

Macjob, a Representatives aspirant from Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Ogun State,  made the statement after meeting with the faithful supporters from the Abeokuta south, ward 15.

According to him "In Nigeria, we the youth are also ready, prepared and not lazy, lets get it back, lets build our nation, lets dream and run with visions of our hero past,”

He noted that our country (Nigeria) had realised that the future could only be sustained through systematic transfer of leadership from the old to the young people.

The aspirant said that it was about time abled, young, professional, dynamic and ready to serve youths in the country took over political leadership to enthrone good governance.

He stressed that rather than provide credible leadership, enabling environment and a platform for national economic development, the present crop of political leaders were only interested in defection from one political party to the another for personal interest.

His words "The youths must follow in the footsteps of great heroes and these young men that librated their countries,”

He said his ready to find long last  solution to the problem facing by the people in terms of poverty, corruption, insecurity, unemployment, religious and ethnic divisions, and poor political leadership and infrastructure among others in the State.

Macjob further charged youths in the State to stop being servitude to political godfathers and their money politics, adding that it was time youths took their destiny in their hands to save the future generation from slavery.

According to the people of Abeokuta South,  they prayed and gave him the assurance that they are going to support him if  all he said will be done.

The clan based their decision to support Macjob after he took off his "shoes" to make a solemnly promises in touch with  his heart.

Also speaking at the meeting, Prince Obasanjo Obasesan, the State YDP chairman, urged youths to always respect their elders.

“You need respect to move up  in life, respect, decency, determination and patience is all you need to get to your glorious destination,”he affirmed.

APC Administration Projects: Mere Grandstanding and Wasteful. Olumide

A  young politician who is aspiring to represent the Ijebu North East Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Olumide Okueyungbo yesterday said, Ijebu North East deserve the best especially in policy making for sustainable socioeconomic growth in Ogun State.

Olumide, who is contesting under Accord, stated this after meeting with the Local Government  Executives in one Accord in Atan.

According to him "Since the  passing of not - too -young to run by the National Assembly, many Nigerian youths have emerged from different political platforms to contest leadership positions with the view of moving the country forward.

Olumide expressed concern over the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in the State and reffered the projects put in place by the administration as wasteful and inconsiderate.

He stressed that the youths need to be included in making policies for the future they have more stakes in. Citing the new Pedestrian bridge at the Panseke axis of the State Capital as a case study.

Stressing  the importance of social inclusion especially when one seeks to execute Civil Projects taking into cognisance that there exists the old, feeble and even disabled  persons within the polity.

 He believes that a simple subway would have satisfied the prerequisites of Costs and functionality as it it being executed using taxpayers monies.

The engineering magnate also unveiled his agenda, saying "No serious government should erect schools that are inaccessible and unserviceable, further deepening the decay in the sector.

"I will propose a bill that will benefit my constituency when I emerged the bill is called, One Ward, One Library Bill".

He assured that the bill, when finally passed will engender the drive for knowledge which by extension promotes civilization and development.

He added that the good people of Ijebu Northeast State Constituency will enjoy the dividend of democracy as he will be committing the relevant authorities and institutions to the regeneration of the constituency as it has suffered total neglect from 2011 to date.

Don't be power drunk - Cleric admonishes politicians ..... As Alake Marks 75th birthday

The Bishop of Otukpo Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev. David Bello,  on Friday, admonished the country's politicians not to get drunk by power but rather see their positions as a call to serve the people who elected them.

Bello said this at St. Peters Cathedral , Ake, Abeokuta ,during a church service to celebrate the 75th birthday of the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egba Land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.

The bishop noted that public offices should be seen as an avenue to serve the people, saying that politicians should serve the people with the fear of God at heart.

He noted that whatever one become in life does not mean he was the best for the job , saying that it was only the mercy of God that put someone in position.


"People say they want to contest for power. It is not power. Whether you are the President, Governor, a Senator or member of the House of Representatives, you are called to serve the people.

"And when you have served, that is when you deserve to be called honourable.

"The position is not a contest for power and that's where we get it wrong.

"If you go into office to serve and you become a billionaire, you're a thief. You're not to go there and become a billionaire.

"In fact you're expected to lose something and because you have lost something , people will respect you and honour you. So,  we should try to see things for what they are," he said.

In his goodwill message, Gov. Ibikunle Amosun, praised the Alake of Egba land for the support he had given to the government both at the state and Federal level.

Amosun reiterated that the state would continue to witness massive development with the support of the people.

The lesson for the service was read from the book of Mathew 5 : 1-16 and was read by the Alake.

I Wanted to Kill my Apprentice for Ritual Purpose, Suspect

Ogun police command has arrested three suspects, Ganiyu Idowu 62, Alfa Bamigbola Edun 56 and Matthew Odunewu 62 , over an alleged attempt to kill a young man, Ganiu Akanmu for ritual purposes.

Akanmu, according to the Police is an apprentice of Ganiyu Idowu, a herbalist.

The Police Commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, who Paraded the suspects among other criminals at the  Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta told journalists that, based on intelligence reports, his men laid ambush for the suspects and swooped on them when they were about to slaughter their victim at the bank of Ogun river.

The Commissioner revealed that, based on the intelligence report that the suspects were planning to kill their victim, his men "Embarked on 24 hours surveillance of the area at the bank of Ogun River where they planned to commit the dastardly act.

"Their efforts"  Iliyasu said "Paid  off on August 30 at about 11pm when four men were sighted coming to the riverbank with three out of them holding polythene bag each", the Commissioner added.

According to him "On getting to the riverbank, the three men grabbed the fourth person (apprentice victim) who is the youngest of them, laid him down on the ground and were about to slaughter him like a sacrificial lamb when the operatives swooped on them and got them arrested."

He said, upon interrogation, the suspects
confessed that the polythene bags with them were to be used to collect their respective shares of the victim's body parts after killing him.

Ganiyu Idowu, the first suspect  told journalists that the victim happened to be his apprentice who he was training to become a herbalist.

According to him, the thought of killing his apprentice came to him after his attempt to kill someone for ritual purpose failed.

Eighteen other criminals among whom were arm robbers and illegal arm dealers were also paraded

N-Power announces alternative recruitment for applicants

N-Power, the federal government’s National Social Investment Programme has announced that applicants yet to be shortlisted will be considered for recruitment in two other categories.

“If you applied for any of the N-Power Graduate programmes and you were not shortlisted, you are likely to receive a message that you have been shortlisted for either the N-Power Tech or Creative programmes”, it read.

The Buhari administration recently stated that it had engaged 300,000 new beneficiaries in the second batch of its N-Power Volunteers Corp effective from 1st August, 2018.

Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, noted that in conjunction with all State N-Power partners, the new beneficiaries will be promptly deployed to their assigned Primary Places of Assignment (PPA) on or before the said date.

He said all successfully deployed N-Power beneficiaries in the second batch would be engaged till July 31, 2020.

Akande added that : “Through the N-Power scheme, hundreds of thousands of young, unemployed Nigerian graduates have been empowered through training and skills acquisition in different areas of public services, including education (N-Teach), health (N-Health), agriculture (N-Agro), and building/construction (N-Build).

“Each N-Power beneficiary learns entrepreneurial skills to enable them become business persons and become professionals on their own, while beneficiaries are given electronic devices to enhance their work and paid a N30,000 monthly stipend.”

Ogun APC Picks Assembly Candidates By Consensus

No fewer than 23 candidates for the Ogun State House of Assembly election in 2019 have been selected by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The 23 consensus candidates out of 26 prospective members vying for the State House of Assembly tickets of the party were picked at an open consensus exercise conducted yesterday at a stakeholders meeting, held at the Presidential lodge in GRA, Ibara housing estate, Abeokuta the state capital .

According to the state Commissioner for Information, Hon Dayo Adeneye, “the candidates were adopted for 23 out of the 26 seats, at the exercise, conducted at the Presidential Lodge, Abeokuta.

“They emerged after all aspirants from all constituencies met to pick the most suitable candidate among them.”

The Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun who announced the outcome of the exercise to party faithfuls described the exercise as a demonstration of a transparent democracy.

“This is a demonstration of the transparent democratic ideals of the APC.”

He added that the arrangement, witnessed by elected party members and political appointees, was peaceful  and accepted by all.

The governor thanked the aspirants for their cooperation and urged the candidates to prepare for the election.

The governor however promised that, candidates for the three remaining seats as well as those of the National Assembly seats, will be concluded on Tuesday .

Adeneye however added that “At the end of the event all candidates, in their speeches, commended the party and the governor for the rancour free exercise.”

EKITI LECTURERS PROTEST OVER NON PAYMENT OF LECTURERS SALARY AND COOPERATIVE DEDUCTION

COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IJERO EKITI  lecturers protests early this morning over non payment of salary, and cooperate deduction from the state government.

Our newsmen gathered that no movement in school as the gate and other entrance to the school premises as been blocked.

The strike was as a result of no payment of salaries after Governor Ayodele Fayose received huge amount of money from the Federal Government.  

However it was also gathered that the Governor has been deducting  money  from the staff cooperative. All efforts to hear from the SUG PRO of the school Alao Olamilekan Donald  over the incident was not acknowledged as the PRO said he can't say anything and he cant talk on what is happening .

According to the report,  the Strike has Officially Started, , they told all the students  to vacate the hostel and go home, because the exam date is not certain again!!!

I will Defeat Amosun's Consensus Candidate at the Primary Election - Prince Dapo Abiodun

Oil magnate and entrepreneur, Prince Dapo Abiodun, yesterday vowed to defeat the candidate of governor Amosun at the direct primary through the support of members of the party.

The leading governorship aspirant in Ogun State, made this statement at his home in Iperu-Remo while hosting his ward and local government coordinators to sensitise them on the ongoing continuous membership registration of APC.

His words "The recent actions of Governor Amosun was poorly scripted dramatic fiction.

He urged his supporters to stand firm and steadfast assuring them that "we are going to have a direct primary as suggested by the National Working Committee of our great party" and we shall win.

The meeting attracted several notable party leaders from the three senatorial districts of the State.

The Chairman of NDIC, Hon. Bode Mustapha, Bobagunwa of Egbaland said the purpose of the meeting is to express solidarity with the aspirations of Prince Dapo Abiodun and the yearnings of the people of Ogun State for improved leadership.

Hon. Mustapha who was the Director General of Amosun's reelection campaign in 2015 informed the party members that the alleged "consensus" gubernatorial candidate presented by governor Amosun is a farce because it was unilaterally done by the governor against the spirit and letter of true democracy.

He said Dapo Abiodun remains the most credible and most competent candidate who can transform Ogun State to greater heights and consolidate on what has been achieved so far.

OSUN DOESN'T HAVE MY MONEY' - TINUBU

The National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday said the Osun State does not have his kind of money.

Tinubu, who was recorded during a visit to the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, also said before the first class traditional ruler that the candidate APC is fielding in the forthcoming September 22 gubernatorial election is very rich.

Tinubu, who spoke in Yoruba, was apparently replying critics who accused him of appointing Ajele (Sole Administrator) as governor to oversee his interest and monitor his business in Osun.

Seeking support for the APC governorship candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, Tinubu’s words translates thus: “We would have asked Rauf to continue because he is working very well. But, we now look at your son, who is accomplished, Gboyega Oyetola; we are handing him over to you. He’s a reliable person. He may be quiet, but the sense he has… He’s an encyclopedia of finance.

“He will not take a bribe; he will not steal your money. If he is looking for money, he would have stayed back in Lagos. You’re not as rich as he is in Osun.”

Tinubu said that those who think he wants his candidate to win in order to run his business in the state, that 'Osun does not have his money'.

Tinubu also said that that he is campaigning for Gboyega Oyetola because he wants to provide jobs for them and create a better future for the children of Osun.

A House of Representatives aspirant from Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Ogun State, Otunba Gbolahan Macjob has promised to sponsor bills that will checkmate swindlers, mediocres in the media industry  and help specialists people by giving them allowance if he emerged.

Macjob, who is contesting under Young Democratic Party, YDP said as a media professional, he would sponsor bills to eradicate untrained journalists, who are giving journalism a bad name.

Aboaba, a graduate of Agric Engineering from University of Ilorin pledged to invest in agriculture and empower the youths with modern agricultural tools.

AREGBESOLA DECLARES TUESDAY HIJRAH 1440AD PUBLIC IN OSUN.

Osun State government yesterday declared Tuesday, September 11, a public holiday to commemorate the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1440AD

This was made known in a statement from the commissioner for home affairs, Adebisi Obawale, on Monday and made available to the journalists.

He said the public holiday will mark the new Islamic year which started counting from 622 AD after the migration of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Mecca to Medina in Saudi Arabia.

His words "The government wishes Muslims in the state and across the world a happy New Year celebration and enjoined residents of the state to continue living harmoniously and peacefully with religious tolerance and understanding."

”As we enter the Islamic New Year, we must not only celebrate but also strive, as part of what Allah commands us to internalise the lessons and essence of the Hijrah as exemplified by uncommon patience and endurance of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in the face of hardship,” the statement said.

While commending the Islamic faithful for their unalloyed support for his administration since inception, Mr Aregbesola canvassed support during and after the upcoming gubernatorial election.

He also urged all Muslims to use the occasion to pray for a peaceful conduct of the election slated for September 22.

 ”We pray, and there is no doubt that the new year would usher the state into another era of economic prosperity, stability and peace and continuation of good governance.”

27 REDEEMER’S UNIVERSITY GRADUANDS MAKE FIRST CLASS HONOUR

Twenty seven graduands  of Redeemer’s university Ede have graduated with first class division in the tenth convocation ceremony of the university.

The vice chancellor of the university, professor Debo Adeyewa stated this at press conference to herald the activities lined up for  the tenth convocation ceremony of the university.

Professor Adeyewa said one hundred and sixty graduated with second class upper and one hundred and seventy eight second class lower while fifty seven graduated with third class and pass.

The vice chancellor noted that Timi of ede,oba munirudeen Adesola laminisa would be bestowed with honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to education development.

Professor Adeyewa hinted that the ivory tower would continue to promote excellence. Saying the graduates of the instruction can compete favourably with their counterparts across the globe.

The vice chancellor who used the event to announce the completion of his seven years tenure said his seven years tenure had recorded unprecedented achievements in area of research, innovations and discoveries for overall development of education in the country.

He submitted that the university had received many accolades locally and internationally during his tenure,saying this was manifestation of performance of the university in the last seven years.

The event which would climax on Thursday would witness award of degrees, Diploma and masters degrees as well as PHDs.

OSUN2018: OSUN REC VISITS WORSHIP CENTRES TO PREACH AGAINST BUYING, SELLING OF VOTES.

Osun State Resident Electoral Commission, Mr. Segun Agbaje yesterday  warned resid

ents  and political contractors against buying and selling of votes before,during the forthcoming September 22nd governorship election in the state , saying whoever violate the act will face the wrath of the  law.

Mr. Agbaje stated this while going around all worship centres of both Christianity and Islamic in osogbo, osun state capital on Sunday.

He insisted that the act of buying or selling of votes is criminal offence that is punishable under Nigeria law.

In his address to the congregation at the church Sunday service and Assalatu at Nasfat along west bye ring road Osogbo vowed that, the commission will give credible election that Nigeria hasn’t witnessed before with the Osun State governorship election.

“The whole world is eyeing Osun State over this election which many of them are partnering with the agencies so that we can have free and fair election” Rec stated.

Agbaje said that a punishment would be meted to any person found to be selling or buying votes before and during election.

He lamented that vote buying and selling is very embarrassing to the commission. ”We shall do all within our reach to stop the menace.” he said

He stressed that, “ There is a one -year jail term , N 100,000 fine , or both , for any person who makes a false statement , fails to give information or facilitate the registration of a fictitious person ”.

“Jail term , N 500 ,000 fine , or both , awaited anyone who induced or yield to inducement of any kind by any person to vote during the exercise.

The official, said that the offences contravened the provisions of the Electoral Act , 2010 , as amended and he implored the congregation of the church to provide information to help the commission through the police to apprehend anybody that err.

He said that INEC is working with security agencies to prevent political parties from hijacking the exercise .

Ogun APC endorse Agric Commissioner as Ogun deputy governorship candidate … As Amosun declares list of APC 40 Candidates

All Progressives Congress APC of Ogun State has made ready all the forty consensus candidates for 2019 Election, among whom is the present serving Commissioner of Agriculture in the State, Mrs Peju Adepoju who emerged as the candidate for the position of Deputy Governor.

The governor alongside the Party Chairman Chief Derin Adebiyi announced Adebajo to members and other leaders of the party across the three Senatorial districts, during their joint endorsement declaration for the governorship candidate of the party Hon Abdulkabir Akinlade.

Mrs Adebajo who had worked for 25 years across different industries in the country rose through the ranks to become the Managing Director, project management and Geocycle at Lafarge Africa before she joined the state government.

The governor who spoke on Saturday at the government house also said that the list for the over 40 elective positions has been drawn adding that it would be read out to the public on Monday.
Amosun recalled that some people who joined APC in the state in mid afternoon, were accepted in the spirit of ‘magnanimity’ but said such people do not want to follow the right procedure in dealing with issues in the party.

He noted that he met the party in ‘carcass’ in Ogun State and had to build it to the attractive APC it has become, wondering if he had left it unattended to, whether such people would a place to run to today.‎‎

Earlier, the East Senatorial District leaders of the party agreed to dance to the tune of the party’s decision of the elected seats.

I Paid N186Million As Refund To Aspirants In 2015 – Amosun

 Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has disclosed that he paid not less than N186 million to aspirants of All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 2015 general elections as refund of their nomination form fees.

He disclosed this to party faithful in Abeokuta, the state capital during the party’s “instant open consensus” to pick candidates of the party in next election.

He explained that he refunded the money in order to ensure peace reign among the aspirants ahead of the election, declaring that he would not refund any money this time around if any aspirant go ahead to purchase form without consensus.

Amosun said the party consensus was still in order, saying if consensus fails, the party would resort to direct primary.

As against, the rumour going round that he had singlehandedly written names of aspirants, he said the party embarked on open consensus in order to follow the directive of the national leadership as well as proved rumour mongers wrong.

In another development, the commissioner for Agriculture and governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru has resigned from Governor Amosun cabinet.

According to a close source to Ashiru, his resignation may not be unconnected with Governor Amosun’s decision to have picked his successor from Ogun West at the detriment of other Ijebu aspirants.

Meanwhile, in a last minute effort to meet up with tomorrow’s deadline for submission of candidates’ names to the National Working Committee (NWC), Governor Amosun and other stakeholders were still in the process of picking their consensus candidates for all the 40 elective positions.

  In a swift encounter with Saheed Adeola, the indefatigable young man,  talked about his background,  perception about politics and reflects on the journey so far as Young Democratic Party  Chairman  (YDP).

 Born into the family of Mr and Mrs Obasesan in Abeokuta Ogun state, Obasanjo Solomon
Obasesan, is the second child with two siblings.

Obasanjo was brought up in
Abeokuta Ogun State, where he attended Primary and Secondary schools before proceeding to the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, where he studied Mass Communication.

Explaining how he became the Young Democratic Party, (YDP) chairman. Obasanjo said, "It was God's plan because I did not contested for the position, through my political history, unionist, human rights activist and someone who has never show any sign of tiredness to  the society, made the National executives appointed him as
the Ogun State Chairman.

Briefly describing his journey so far in the party, he said " My Journey has not been a bed of  roses" , although the party has not been able to control much crowd, but through hard work, passion and determination, I have been able to reach the success land and I thank God for my achievement in the State.

In his words, "I have been able to produced Aspirants under YDP for the 2019 election and I still need  fresh blood aspirants
Who have good plans for youths and adages. "Irrespective of any office to contest  I will welcome them".

Due to my unrelated hard work,  i can bouyantily tell you that i have a serious and youth oriented aspirant in my party who is Otunba Gbolahan Macjob vying for the seat of  Abeokuta South House of Representatives. Obasanjo added.

When questioning him on the look of people on YDP as a new party and a business that is not profitable, Obasanjo said, " I will never subscribe to that idea" we must run an honesty, integrity, not much more but the fact I had to work hard with honesty to achieve everything in life is perquisite to a good life.

One should work very hard In other to achieve whatever you set out to do. To take YDP to a greater level is to be dedicated, Said Obasanjo.

In his response about the defections gale, he said, "If the Polity is working and the people are happy, there will be no need for defection.

Obasanjo was asked who were behind him, he said, "It is only God, because I don't have godfather"

In his words on how he manage to serve mankind and also have a stable home. He explained that, "There is time for everything, if I choose my work as something paramount, I have no reason not to have successful home. I appreciate my wife for her support and kindness.

I urged everyone to come out in masses in 2019 election to exercise their franchise as a youths and you shouldn't indulge in political violence, avoid using by politicians who has nothing to offer than to use and dump, Obasanjo warned.

Don't Be Self Centered, Alake Urged Politicians • Prepares For 75th Birthday

Ahead of 2019 elections, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba  Michael Adedotun  Gbadebo yesterday appealed to politicians, especially those vying for positions to be democratic in their leadership roles, urging them to think not of personal gains but think more of the citizens to move the country forward.

Gbadebo made the statement at his Ake Place in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital during a Press Conference held to kick-start his forth coming 75th birthday anniversary holding on  Friday.

The  three -day anniversary is said to feature free medical outreach,  installation of some eminent Egba sons and daughters has Chiefs,  religious activities among others.

Fielding questions from Journalists, the Monarch who ascended the throne 13 years ago hinted that in a democratic system where the leaders think more of themselves and less about the people they govern, chaos is inevitable.

Alake also emphasised the need for politicians to cultivate tolerance, adding that if tolerance was missing in a leader, is leadership qualities are incomplete.

He stressed, "I will say,  politicians should think less of themselves and their families but think more of the people they govern.  They must also exercise tolerance. In a democratic system where leaders seek after selfish gain, chaos is inevitable."

His view, following a question on whether traditional leaders should participate in politics "Traditional leaders are meant to advise those in government  in the areas needed because tradition and democracy are two parallel lines".

Asked his achievement since his ascension as a Monarch, the royal father enunciated that during his reign, Egbaland had witness tremendous changes part of which are installation of unity among the people, reduction of corrupt practices, human and material development to mention a few.

The Alake also described his greatest challenges, stating that despite his effort to ensure that the indigenous people  imbibe the culture of the land i.e,  embrace the Adire fabric (a local fabric made my the Egbas), eat the indigenous Ofada rice, they still stick to the western culture.

Another challenge he said is that people think more of themselves than the development of the community.

The Monarch eulogised the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. The Governor, Alake said had contribute immensely to his success as a traditional ruler, adding that the Amosun's administration has been supportive of his reign.

He said "Without the Governor's support, my name wouldn't have been heard. The Governor is making sure that the culture and traditions of Egbaland does not die away".

He added "let us pray that the next Governor of this State will do better than what Amosun has done. I cannot say whether the person that will succeed him will perform better, but let us  keep praying."

A Motorcycle Rider, Ubong Ime, has Raped and Impregnated His 15-year-old Daughter.

Our reporters gathered that, the incident happened in the Iju area of Lagos State.
The 15-year-old victim lived with her mother in Uyo until in 2015 when the father, who had remarried, brought her to Lagos to stay with them.

Ime, who was arrested by policemen from the Iju Police Station of Lagos State, said he was in love with his daughter, adding that he slept with her twice.

“Sometime in June 2018, my wife informed me that my daughter was pregnant after which we both called her to ask who was responsible for the pregnancy. She did not say anything, but I knew that I was the one who impregnated her and it happened in June. I fell in love with her and had sex with her two times,” the suspect said from police custody.

The 15-year-old, whose name would not be made public, however, said her father first raped her on a day her stepmother stopped her from going to school after accusing her of stealing.

She said her father, who pretended to be punishing her, had sex with her.
She said, “My stepmother always accused me of stealing her money and most times she beat me up. Sometime in June, my stepmother accused me of stealing her N200 and because of that, she said I should not go to school.

“While I was doing the house chores, my daddy brought out a wire and started beating me. As he was beating me, he ordered me to sit on the bed and remove my pants. I initially refused, but as he continued beating me, I obeyed him and he raped me. As I was shouting, one of my neighbours came to knock on our door, but he told him that he was punishing me.

“After the sex, he told me that I should not tell anybody. He was the one that washed the clothes I was supposed to wash that day while I slept. After some time, I woke up and took my bath. I did not tell my stepmother anything.

“Then in July 2018, before we started our examination, my stepmother said I should not go to school. My dad went out in the morning and came back in the afternoon. As of then, I was sleeping on the bed. I suddenly noticed that someone laid on me. Before I knew it, he had sex with me again, making it twice. He still warned me not to tell anybody what happened between us.”

The victim said when she missed her period in July, her stepmother asked her if she had sex with anyone, but she denied it.

She said she confessed to her stepmother when it was confirmed that she was two months pregnant.

“When my stepmother reported to my daddy that I looked pregnant, he said I should lie to her that I was raped by someone in a hotel. My stepmother continued disturbing me and made me do a pregnancy test. She told me that I was two months’ pregnant.

“When everybody on the street became aware that I was pregnant, I decided to tell my stepmother the truth. My daddy was the first man that had sex with me. No other person had done it with me before or after him,” she said.
The victim’s half-brother, David, said he had caught his father many times having sex with his sister.

The 12-year-old said, “There was a day that I came back from school and I met daddy on top of her. Daddy used to have sex with her even in the night if our mummy is not at home. I used to see them together on our bed if our mummy is not at home.”
Ime was arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court on one count of defilement.

The police prosecutor, Inspector John Christopher, said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.
The charge read in part, “That you, Ubong Ime, in June 2018, at about 12pm on Olushina Street, Isale Haruna, Obawole, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did defile your daughter (name withheld) aged 15….”
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The presiding magistrate, P. E. Nwaka, remanded the suspect in custody.
The case was adjourned till October 3, 2018.
